Project Manager (Healthcare IT)

About the Role

As Project Manager (Healthcare IT) at Cognizant, you'll oversee end-to-end project execution within the healthcare technology space. Your focus will be on system integration (SI) proof-of-concept activities, working closely with EDI specialists and technical teams to deliver claims processing solutions on time and on budget. You'll be the central hub connecting technical resources, business stakeholders, and project objectives—ensuring every milestone is hit and every risk is managed proactively.

What You'll Do

• Plan and manage project schedules, timelines, and milestones for healthcare IT and claims processing initiatives
• Coordinate across systems integration, EDI, and related technical teams to align deliverables and resolve blockers
• Identify, track, and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies to keep projects on course
• Facilitate regular status reporting, steering committee meetings, and stakeholder communication
• Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and contractor performance
• Ensure compliance with healthcare IT standards and project governance protocols
• Document project artifacts, lessons learned, and process improvements

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of project management experience, ideally in healthcare IT, systems integration, or claims processing environments
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate cross-functional technical teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting to executive and technical audiences
• Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid approaches)
• Familiarity with healthcare industry standards, EDI workflows, or systems integration concepts
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to think strategically about risk and dependencies
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; PMP, CAPM, or related certification preferred
