About the Role
As an Apprentice Aquarist, you'll work directly with our animal care team, gaining practical experience in every aspect of aquarium management. This role combines animal husbandry, habitat maintenance, and operational support within one of the region's premier marine attractions. You'll be part of a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care for our marine residents.
What You'll Do
- Assist with daily feeding programs and nutritional management for marine animals
- Maintain and monitor aquarium water systems, including filtration and chemical balance
- Perform routine habitat cleaning and preparation to ensure optimal living conditions
- Support animal health assessments and observe behavioral patterns
- Prepare food and supplements under guidance from senior aquarium staff
- Assist with exhibit maintenance and equipment checks
- Support educational interactions and visitor experiences when appropriate
- Document observations and contribute to animal care records
