Sevita is hiring a Full-Time Direct Support Professional in Atwater, Merced County, to deliver community-based care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional with Sevita's Mentor Community Services division, you'll work directly with individuals to help them achieve greater independence, access community resources, and participate fully in the life of Atwater and surrounding areas. You'll be part of a dedicated team committed to person-centered support that honors each individual's goals and preferences.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living including personal care, hygiene, grooming, and household tasks
- Support individuals in community outings, employment, education, and recreation activities
- Maintain safe living environments and implement health and safety protocols
- Document care delivered, behavioral observations, and progress toward individual goals
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, supervisors, and clinical team members
- Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal objectives
- Respond compassionately to individuals' needs and advocate for their rights and preferences
What We're Looking For
- Genuine passion for supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to a full-time schedule
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and person-centered perspective
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (may be required)
- Willingness to complete training and maintain appropriate certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
