Universal Orlando is seeking an experienced Production Designer at all levels to join our creative team in Orlando, Orange County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to shape immersive entertainment experiences that captivate millions of guests worldwide.
About the Role
As a Production Designer with Universal Orlando, you'll be at the forefront of creating the visual worlds that define our attractions and theme parks. You'll work alongside creative directors and multidisciplinary teams to transform conceptual visions into compelling, tangible environments where art and cutting-edge technology converge.
What You'll Do
- Develop comprehensive visual concepts and detailed production designs for themed environments and attractions
- Collaborate with directors, architects, engineers, and other creative professionals to ensure design feasibility and impact
- Create detailed renderings, sketches, and design specifications that communicate your vision to production teams
- Research historical, cultural, and contemporary design elements to enhance authenticity and storytelling
- Problem-solve design challenges to balance creative ambition with technical and operational requirements
- Manage design development through all phases, from concept through execution
- Utilize industry-standard design tools and software to present and refine your work
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in production design, set design, environmental design, or related creative disciplines
- Proficiency with design software and visualization tools
- Strong conceptual and visual communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence in execution
- Understanding of how design influences guest experience and storytelling
- Portfolio demonstrating your design work and creative problem-solving
