Senior Transmission Line Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead overhead transmission infrastructure projects for our Energy & Utilities Engineering & Design team in Kimball Junction, Summit County. This is a full-time position where you'll own complex project design, stakeholder coordination, and technical mentorship.

About the Role

You'll take responsibility for transmission line projects from conception through delivery. Your technical expertise in routing optimization, structural analysis, and modeling will guide design decisions that impact regional power infrastructure. You'll engage with utility clients and contractors, ensuring projects meet industry standards and delivery timelines.

What You'll Do

• Plan and execute transmission line routing studies to identify optimal construction pathways
• Conduct structural and electrical engineering analysis to validate design performance
• Create detailed 3D models using PLS-CADD and supporting engineering tools
• Ensure designs comply with NESC standards and utility-specific requirements
• Mentor junior team members and support their professional skill development
• Work collaboratively with utility partners, engineering consultants, and construction firms
• Review field conditions and address design challenges in operational settings

What We're Looking For

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical or Civil Engineering
• Extensive experience in transmission line design and overhead electrical systems
• Expert-level proficiency with PLS-CADD modeling software
• Strong working knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and utility standards
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and mentor engineers
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Track record working with utilities, EPCs, and engineering organizations
