School Resource Officer (SRO)

We're hiring three School Resource Officer (SRO) positions with McCracken to join our school safety team in Paducah, McCracken County. This full-time role offers law enforcement professionals the opportunity to make a direct impact on school safety and student wellbeing while serving our community.

About the Role

As a School Resource Officer, you'll enforce state and local laws while providing comprehensive law enforcement services to assigned schools and across the district. Your work will center on protecting students, staff, and property while fostering a safe learning environment. You'll balance enforcement responsibilities with community-oriented policing principles to support both school safety and positive relationships with young people.

What You'll Do

• Enforce applicable state statutes and local ordinances within school settings
• Protect life and property, responding to incidents on school grounds
• Investigate criminal complaints and conduct preliminary investigations
• Suppress criminal activity and apprehend offenders
• Regulate non-criminal conduct to maintain school order and discipline
• Provide law enforcement expertise and guidance to school administration
• Engage with students and families through community-oriented initiatives
• Maintain detailed records and prepare reports in accordance with district and law enforcement standards

What We're Looking For

• Current POPS (Peace Officer Professional Standards) certification or eligibility to obtain it
• Valid peace officer certification or comparable law enforcement credentials
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Clean background check and ability to pass security screening
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to student safety and community engagement
• Physical fitness to perform law enforcement duties
