Heavy Equipment Operator – Wet Utilities

WESTERN UNDERGROUND INC is recruiting an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for our wet utilities operations in Phoenix, Maricopa County. As a 25-year-old family-owned business, we're looking for a skilled operator who takes pride in executing complex projects safely, on schedule, and with precision.

About the Role

You'll operate heavy equipment on underground infrastructure projects that deliver essential water and wastewater systems throughout the Phoenix area. This is a full-time position with a 4-10 work schedule—giving you three consecutive days off every week while maintaining consistent hours for your family and personal commitments.

What You'll Do

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, and loaders on wet utility construction and maintenance sites
• Perform excavation, trenching, and site preparation work for water distribution and wastewater infrastructure
• Maintain equipment to manufacturer standards and report maintenance needs promptly
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA requirements on every job
• Coordinate with crew members and project supervisors to meet daily and project deadlines
• Transport equipment between job sites and keep detailed operation logs

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment in wet utilities or similar construction environments
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate commercial vehicles
• Knowledge of underground infrastructure work and site safety
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance
• Reliable attendance and commitment to completing work on schedule
• Ability to work in Arizona's climate and terrain conditions
