Join Foundation Medicine in South Boston as an Accessioning Technologist I, a critical member of our CLIA-certified clinical laboratory. This full-time position operates Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, and focuses on sample receipt, verification, and data management to support our genomic testing operations.
What You'll Do
- Receive, log, and verify all incoming patient samples upon arrival at the laboratory
- Confirm that complete sample documentation and test requisition information accompany each specimen
- Perform data entry tasks with accuracy and attention to detail, recording sample information in laboratory information systems
- Verify sample integrity and proper labeling, flagging any discrepancies or quality concerns
- Maintain organized sample workflows and ensure proper chain of custody throughout the accessioning process
- Work independently on routine accessioning duties while collaborating with laboratory team members on complex or unusual specimens
- Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations and Foundation Medicine laboratory standards and protocols
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; clinical laboratory or healthcare experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple samples accurately and efficiently
- Proficiency with computer systems and data entry; experience with laboratory information systems a plus
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in recording sample and patient information
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative laboratory team
- Reliability and punctuality; ability to commit to the Tuesday–Saturday schedule
- Professional demeanor and adherence to laboratory safety and quality standards
