Jacobs, a leading professional services firm specializing in environmental remediation and infrastructure assessment, is hiring a Mid-Level Environmental Scientist/Ecological Risk Assessor for our West Milwaukee, Milwaukee County office. This is a full-time position supporting complex site investigations and cleanup projects.
About the Role
You'll serve as a key technical contributor on environmental remediation and site characterization projects, evaluating ecological conditions and assessing risks under regulatory frameworks. Your work will directly inform cleanup strategies, site management decisions, and regulatory compliance as projects move from investigation through remediation.
What You'll Do
- Conduct ecological risk assessments, including baseline surveys, desktop reviews, and environmental impact evaluations
- Participate in site characterization activities, including sampling design, field investigation, and analytical data review
- Analyze environmental data to identify ecological hazards and support remediation planning
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project teams, and clients on findings and next steps
- Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations documenting assessments, methodologies, and recommendations
- Apply knowledge of CERCLA frameworks and environmental regulations to project work
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related scientific discipline
- 3–5 years of experience in environmental assessment, ecological risk evaluation, or environmental consulting
- Working knowledge of CERCLA, NEPA, state environmental statutes, and environmental investigation standards
- Ability to use GIS, data analysis tools, or environmental software for spatial and technical analysis
- Strong writing and communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences
- Comfort with fieldwork and site-based investigations
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work to regulatory and client deadlines
