Garland Independent School District is seeking a full-time Lead Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year to join our student support team. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student success and well-being in a growing Texas school community.
About the Role
As a Lead Counselor with Garland ISD, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to students while also supporting and mentoring other counseling staff members. Working on a 202-day contract at Pay Grade 105, this leadership-focused position combines direct student services with professional development responsibilities within our campus environment.
What You'll Do
- Deliver individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social-emotional, and personal concerns
- Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs aligned with student needs and district initiatives
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success and foster an inclusive school culture
- Mentor and guide other counseling professionals, sharing best practices and supporting their professional growth
- Maintain detailed student records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Participate in school-wide committees and contribute to data-driven decision making processes
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in counseling from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas school counselor certification
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- Strong communication and leadership skills with experience mentoring colleagues
- Knowledge of school counseling best practices and evidence-based interventions
- Commitment to student-centered approaches and creating supportive learning environments
