Senior Teaching Fellow, STEM Career Advantage Academy

Join Tufts University as a Senior Teaching Fellow for the newly launched STEM Career Advantage Academy in Medford, Massachusetts, where you'll mentor talented undergraduate and advanced high school students through an intensive summer program designed to build the leadership and professional skills that drive STEM careers.

About the Role

The Tufts Center for Professional and Workforce Impact, a division of University College, is establishing the STEM Career Advantage Academy (SCAA)—a flagship summer initiative launching in 2026. As Senior Teaching Fellow, you'll co-lead this program, working directly with motivated STEM students to cultivate the professional competencies, communication abilities, and leadership capabilities essential for success in graduate study and technical careers.

What You'll Do

• Co-facilitate instruction in professional skills, technical communication, and STEM leadership development
• Mentor students individually and in group settings, providing guidance on academic and career advancement
• Design and deliver workshops covering career readiness, project leadership, teamwork, and domain-specific applications
• Assess student learning outcomes and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement
• Partner with faculty, industry professionals, and career services to create authentic learning experiences
• Support curriculum development across multiple STEM disciplines and competency areas

What We're Looking For

• Teaching or mentoring experience in STEM contexts with college-age or advanced high school students
• Substantive background in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
• Demonstrated ability to teach professional and leadership skill development
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience engaging diverse student populations with equity and cultural responsiveness
• Collaborative approach to working within academic teams and university environments
• Commitment to fostering student success and broadening opportunity in STEM fields
