Life Safety Officer

About the Role

The Life Safety Officer plays a critical role in Boys and Girls Village's mission to support children and families. You'll be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety protocols and emergency preparedness procedures across our organization. Working on-site in Bridgeport, you'll partner with staff, clients, and visitors to maintain the highest safety standards in all our facilities and program areas.

What You'll Do

• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of campus facilities and off-site program locations
• Develop and enforce fire safety, emergency response, and disaster preparedness plans
• Train staff and participants on safety protocols, evacuation procedures, and incident response
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and licensing requirements
• Investigate safety incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions
• Manage safety equipment, emergency supplies, and communication systems
• Coordinate with emergency services and local authorities on safety matters
• Educate the community about life safety best practices in residential and community-based settings

What We're Looking For

• Knowledge of fire codes, building safety standards, and emergency preparedness requirements
• Strong communication and training abilities to work effectively with diverse audiences
• Attention to detail and commitment to accountability in safety documentation
• Ability to think strategically about complex safety challenges in youth services environments
• Experience with emergency response procedures and incident management
• Availability for on-site presence in Bridgeport to oversee day-to-day safety operations
