About the Role
As an Engineer, Line Design, you'll apply engineering expertise to develop, evaluate, and optimize transmission and distribution lines that deliver safe, reliable power to the communities we serve. You'll combine technical analysis with practical problem-solving to design solutions that meet rigorous safety, reliability, and cost standards.
What You'll Do
- Create detailed designs for transmission and distribution line projects using industry-standard CAD and engineering software
- Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis to verify designs comply with applicable codes and regulatory standards
- Evaluate multiple routing and design alternatives to optimize performance, cost, and environmental considerations
- Coordinate with project managers, field teams, and other departments to ensure designs are constructable and well-integrated
- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and construction drawings
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budget considerations
- Stay informed of industry standards, utility practices, and code updates affecting line design
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related field
- Professional experience with transmission or distribution line design, or equivalent utility engineering background
- Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and utility standards
- Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with teams
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or eligible to pursue
