Join Ryder System's Talent Management Team as an Instructional Designer I, a full-time remote position based in Sacramento, Sacramento County. In this role, you'll create engaging, impactful learning experiences that drive professional development across the organization, working as a skilled individual contributor who transforms complex information into clear, measurable training solutions.

About the Role

As an Instructional Designer I at Ryder System, you'll be at the center of how our organization builds workforce capability. You'll own the full lifecycle of learning solution development—from identifying business needs and analyzing performance gaps to designing, developing, and delivering training that sticks. This is a hands-on position where you'll apply instructional design principles to create courses, modules, and resources that meet real organizational goals.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop learning solutions including courses, simulations, assessments, and reference materials tailored to diverse audiences
  • Conduct needs analyses and performance gap assessments to determine the right training interventions
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather requirements and validate content accuracy
  • Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to create engaging, interactive learning experiences
  • Select and utilize appropriate technologies and delivery methods (classroom, online, blended, microlearning)
  • Develop training materials including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, and digital assets
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging instructional design methodologies

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, or related field
  • 1–3 years of professional instructional design or training development experience
  • Proficiency with instructional design tools and authoring software (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of ADDIE, SAM, or other instructional design models
  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Experience developing for multiple formats and delivery methods
  • Self-directed work style suited to remote collaboration and independent project management
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS)
