Wellesley College seeks a full-time Social Media Manager to amplify the college's voice and engage our vibrant community across social platforms. This position is based in the United States, where you'll build meaningful connections and advance our mission of educational excellence.
About the Role
As Social Media Manager, you'll develop and execute Wellesley College's social media strategy across multiple platforms, creating engaging content that reflects our values and resonates with diverse audiences. You'll work closely with colleagues throughout the institution to coordinate messaging, amplify departmental initiatives, and foster a strong online community.
What You'll Do
- Create original, compelling content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms that showcase student life, faculty research, campus events, and institutional news
- Plan and schedule posts, stories, and multimedia content that maintain brand consistency while adapting to platform-specific best practices
- Monitor conversations, respond to comments and messages, and engage followers in a timely, professional, and authentic manner
- Analyze platform analytics and engagement metrics to assess performance and inform strategic decisions
- Collaborate with communications, marketing, admissions, alumni relations, student life, and other departments to ensure cohesive messaging
- Stay current with social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and emerging best practices in higher education communications
- Manage sensitive situations and brand reputation across social channels with sound judgment and discretion
What We're Looking For
- Two or more years of professional social media management or digital communications experience
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging written content, including captions, posts, and multimedia narratives
- Strong visual literacy and experience curating or producing image and video content
- Proficiency with social media scheduling tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities
- Ability to balance institutional messaging with authentic, platform-specific voice
- Collaborative approach to working across departments and stakeholder groups
- Familiarity with higher education communications or nonprofit social media (preferred)
