About the Role
As a Lead Research Specialist, you will direct and oversee research initiatives focused on pediatric sickle cell disease, working with minimal supervision to manage complex studies from conception through completion. You will serve as a key leader within our research team, ensuring scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and meaningful outcomes that advance patient care and clinical knowledge in this critical area of medicine.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement research protocols and study methodologies aligned with clinical best practices and regulatory standards
- Lead data collection, analysis, and interpretation to generate evidence-based insights
- Manage study budgets, timelines, and resources while maintaining detailed documentation
- Oversee recruitment, enrollment, and management of study participants
- Collaborate with physicians, research scientists, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve research objectives
- Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations for publication and stakeholder communication
- Ensure adherence to institutional review board (IRB) requirements and ethical research standards
- Mentor and supervise junior research staff and support team members
- Stay current with pediatric sickle cell research literature and emerging methodologies
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in a life science, public health, nursing, or related field (PhD preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical or translational research settings
- Demonstrated expertise in research protocol development and implementation
- Strong background in pediatric research or sickle cell disease knowledge
- Proficiency with data management systems and statistical analysis tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
- Proven leadership and project management abilities
- Knowledge of IRB processes, regulatory compliance, and research ethics
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with research teams
