Chief-Campus Police & Security

Shaw University seeks an accomplished Chief of Campus Police and Security to lead our University Police Department in Raleigh, Wake County. In this full-time role, you'll report directly to the VP of Student Affairs and direct all personnel and resources to ensure the safety and well-being of our entire campus community.

About the Role

As Chief of Campus Police and Security, you'll provide executive leadership to a dedicated law enforcement team committed to protecting Shaw University's students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You'll develop and implement comprehensive security policies, emergency response procedures, and community-focused policing initiatives that reflect modern best practices in campus safety.

What You'll Do

• Direct the operations, personnel, and resources of the University Police Department to maximize campus safety and security
• Establish and enforce security protocols, crime prevention strategies, and emergency management procedures
• Lead community policing efforts that build trust and partnerships with students, staff, and local law enforcement agencies
• Conduct risk assessments, threat evaluations, and security audits across campus facilities
• Oversee investigative operations, disciplinary processes, and incident reporting
• Develop training programs and ensure officers maintain compliance with professional standards
• Represent the University Police Department in external partnerships and stakeholder engagements
• Prepare budgets, reports, and strategic plans for departmental operations

What We're Looking For

• Extensive law enforcement experience with demonstrated knowledge of modern policing practices and community engagement strategies
• Experience in leadership, personnel management, and organizational development
• Strong understanding of university campus operations and the unique security challenges of higher education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse constituencies
• Crisis management and emergency response capabilities
• Bachelor's degree or relevant law enforcement credentials and certifications
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain North Carolina peace officer certification
