Associate/VP, Global Investment Banking, Leveraged Finance

Royal Bank of Canada is hiring an Associate/VP, Global Investment Banking professional specializing in Leveraged Finance for its New York City team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead complex transactions while mentoring emerging banking talent in one of the industry's most challenging and rewarding specialties.

About the Role

You will take on greater responsibility in structuring and executing leveraged finance transactions alongside senior banking leaders. This position sits at the bridge between individual contributor and team leadership—you will manage significant client relationships and transaction workflows while building and developing junior team members. Your work will span the full lifecycle of complex deals, from initial client engagement through transaction close.

What You'll Do

• Partner with senior bankers to structure and lead loan and high-yield transactions, including leveraged buyouts, acquisition financings, and recapitalizations
• Provide strategic support to senior executives throughout all transaction phases, from pitch through execution and close
• Direct analyst teams in building financial models, conducting transaction analysis, and preparing client deliverables
• Train and mentor junior banking professionals, establishing standards for analytical quality and client engagement
• Develop and present compelling pitch materials and transaction materials for institutional clients
• Execute restructurings, refinancings, and recapitalizations for mid-market and large-cap sponsors

What We're Looking For

• Solid background in investment banking, particularly in leveraged finance or debt capital markets
• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and transaction structuring
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop junior team members
• Strong presentation and client management capabilities
• Deep working knowledge of leveraged buyout structures and high-yield markets
• Track record managing transactions from origination through successful execution
