Asset Recovery Specialist

Deseret First Credit Union is seeking an Asset Recovery Specialist to join our team in Hunter, Salt Lake County. In this full-time position, you'll lead recovery efforts across our charged-off accounts, driving financial outcomes that protect our membership and strengthen the credit union.

About the Role

As an Asset Recovery Specialist, you oversee the collection and recovery of charged-off loans and delinquent accounts. You manage a diverse portfolio spanning secured and unsecured loans, negative share accounts, and complex recovery scenarios. Your work directly impacts our organization's financial health and member confidence.

What You'll Do

• Direct recovery operations on post-charge-off loan accounts, both secured and unsecured obligations
• Manage collections on negative share deposit accounts and pursue appropriate recovery actions
• Coordinate legal recovery proceedings, including bankruptcy administration and litigation support
• Process insurance claims and coordinate subrogation efforts where applicable
• Oversee repossession outcomes and manage deficiency recovery
• Collaborate with third-party collection agencies, legal counsel, and external recovery resources
• Maintain detailed account documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Monitor recovery metrics and report on portfolio performance to management

What We're Looking For

• Knowledge of credit union operations, loan servicing, and collections practices
• Experience managing charged-off accounts or recovery portfolios
• Familiarity with bankruptcy law, litigation processes, and legal recovery procedures
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex accounts simultaneously
• Excellent communication for interactions with members, attorneys, and collection partners
• Proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools
• Detail-oriented approach with commitment to regulatory compliance
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in financial services
