Clinical Director HLA

Join Sonora Quest Laboratories as a Clinical Director of HLA in Little Tucson, Pima County, leading a vital immunology laboratory within a premier transplant program. This full-time day position offers you the opportunity to oversee HLA typing, tissue matching, and immunological testing for a statewide transplant network.

About the Role

As Clinical Director of HLA, you'll take charge of a specialized clinical laboratory focused on HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) testing and immune monitoring for transplant candidates and recipients. You'll serve as the scientific leader for a multi-location laboratory operation, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, efficiency, and patient care across the transplant program's service area. This role combines direct laboratory operations with clinical consultation and collaboration across our transplant team.

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily HLA laboratory operations, including tissue typing, crossmatching, and immunological compatibility testing
• Supervise laboratory staff and ensure adherence to clinical protocols, quality standards, and regulatory compliance
• Validate test results and provide clinical interpretation for transplant surgeons, physicians, and transplant coordinators
• Develop and implement laboratory procedures, methodologies, and best practices for HLA testing
• Maintain quality assurance programs and participate in proficiency testing and accreditation reviews
• Collaborate with transplant teams across multiple statewide locations to optimize patient outcomes
• Stay current with advances in immunology and transplant immunology to inform laboratory practices

What We're Looking For

• MD, DO, or PhD in immunology, microbiology, or related field
• Board certification in clinical laboratory immunology or transplant immunology (or eligibility)
• Demonstrated expertise in HLA testing, tissue typing, and transplant immunology
• Laboratory management experience and proven ability to lead clinical teams
• Strong knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory standards for clinical laboratories
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across clinical departments
• Arizona medical/clinical license or ability to obtain one
