Edina Public Schools is seeking a Full-Time Special Education Teacher at Normandale Elementary to join our team beginning August 24, 2026. About the Role
As a Special Education Teacher, you'll develop and deliver individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and goals. This full-time position offers the chance to work with students across a range of abilities and support their academic, social, and emotional growth in an inclusive learning environment.
What You'll Do
- Plan, teach, and assess lessons aligned to IEPs and state standards
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support student success
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and modify instruction based on data
- Implement evidence-based interventions and assistive technology as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student placement and program decisions
- Foster a safe, welcoming classroom that celebrates diversity and encourages student independence
What We're Looking For
- Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license or eligibility to obtain one
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field
- Strong communication and collaborative skills with students, families, and staff
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and evidence-based teaching practices
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities and learning styles
- Commitment to inclusive education and positive behavioral support
