Join KGOU public radio at the University of Oklahoma as a Student Host/Producer this summer. This full-time position offers hands-on experience in broadcast media, community engagement, and live radio production in Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.

About the Role

KGOU, the University of Oklahoma's public radio station, is seeking a Student Host/Producer to contribute to our mission of informing and engaging our diverse audience across Oklahoma. In this role, you'll work directly in our radio station operations, gaining real-world experience in on-air hosting, content production, and listener interaction.

What You'll Do

  • Host live radio programs and segments, engaging audiences during scheduled broadcast times
  • Produce and prepare audio content, including interview selection and editorial segments
  • Manage on-air operations and maintain broadcast procedures and station standards
  • Interact with listeners and build community engagement through radio programming
  • Assist with research, planning, and content development for station shows
  • Work collaboratively with other student hosts, producers, and station staff

What We're Looking For

  • Current student status preferred
  • Strong communication and speaking abilities
  • Genuine interest in public radio, broadcast media, or journalism
  • Reliability and punctuality for assigned shifts
  • Ability to work independently and take direction
  • Enthusiasm for learning radio production techniques
  • No prior broadcasting experience required—we welcome first-time broadcasters

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Full Time (Summer)
  • Location: Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma
  • Schedule: Weekdays, flexible shifts between 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Pay: $12.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Travel: Not required
  • Benefits: Not eligible
