Tech Rakers is seeking a skilled GIS Specialist to join our Data & Analytics team in Lafayette, Louisiana. This full-time position offers the opportunity to leverage advanced geospatial analysis and mapping expertise in a growing technical organization dedicated to unlocking insights from spatial datasets.
About the Role
As GIS Specialist, you'll serve as a key member of our Lafayette office, working five days per week on-site. Reporting to our Technology and GIS Lead, you'll take ownership of spatial data workflows—from acquisition through analysis and presentation—supporting data-driven decision making across multiple departments.
What You'll Do
- Process and analyze geospatial data including aerial imagery and drone datasets to extract meaningful insights
- Design, build, and maintain geographic information systems and spatial databases
- Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and spatial analyses for internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct geospatial research and analysis using industry-standard GIS tools and methodologies
- Document data workflows and prepare technical reports communicating findings to non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate spatial data into business processes and initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated expertise in GIS analysis, geospatial data management, and spatial analysis techniques
- Proficiency with geographic information systems software and spatial data formats
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and quality
- Ability to translate complex spatial data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Bachelor's degree in geography, geology, environmental science, GIS, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
