Sr. Cloud Engineer

SHI is recruiting a Senior Cloud Engineer for our Five Points, Wake County office on a full-time basis. In this role, you'll architect and operate cloud infrastructure that supports thousands of organizations relying on SHI's technology solutions and services.

About the Role

This is a leadership position for an experienced cloud infrastructure professional. You'll own the design, deployment, and ongoing management of cloud platforms across multiple environments. You'll drive technical decisions, establish best practices, and mentor engineers while solving complex challenges at scale. Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of systems serving SHI's global customer base.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or hybrid platforms
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code frameworks for automated provisioning and configuration management
• Lead architecture planning, capacity forecasting, and system optimization initiatives
• Establish security policies, compliance controls, and disaster recovery procedures
• Manage cloud cost optimization, licensing, and resource efficiency across environments
• Oversee containerization, orchestration, and continuous integration pipelines
• Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with business requirements

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure in production environments
• Advanced proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools and cloud platform services
• Strong background in cloud security, compliance frameworks, and operational resilience
• Experience with containerization, container orchestration, and modern CI/CD practices
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and optimize performance
• Solid understanding of networking, storage, compute, and database services in cloud environments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to lead cross-team initiatives
