Laurus is hiring a full-time Cook for our Allegan, Allegan County community. You'll prepare and serve meals that nourish residents while upholding rigorous food safety and sanitation standards—making a direct difference in their health and daily experience.

About the Role

This full-time Cook position offers two shift options—6am–2pm or 11am–7:30pm—within our dining services department. Working in a supportive healthcare setting, you'll be essential to our residents' wellness and satisfaction. Your kitchen work directly supports the care mission of Laurus.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and plate meals using pre-planned menus with consistent quality and attention to presentation
• Cook diverse dishes while accommodating individual resident preferences, dietary restrictions, and medical requirements
• Execute proper food safety, sanitation, and storage protocols throughout daily operations
• Monitor portion sizes and ingredient usage to maintain cost efficiency and nutritional standards
• Collaborate with dietary and nursing staff to align meals with resident health needs
• Organize and maintain kitchen equipment, workspace, and inventory in accordance with health standards
• Document meal preparation and maintain required kitchen records

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in food preparation, line cooking, or institutional food service
• Solid understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation best practices, and HACCP compliance
• Ability to read, interpret, and execute recipes and standardized menus accurately
• Physical stamina to stand, lift, and work efficiently in a kitchen environment
• Precision with portion control, timing, and plating standards
• Collaborative mindset and clear communication with team members
• Scheduling flexibility and reliability
