AKP Recruiting is hiring a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana. This is a full-time position leading surveying projects and providing technical expertise across diverse client needs in the region.
About the Role
The Registered Professional Land Surveyor will direct and oversee land surveying operations, managing complex projects from inception through completion. You'll serve as a technical leader within the Surveying and Technical Services department, reporting to the Survey Manager or Technical Services Business Group Leader, and take ownership of project quality, accuracy, and client outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage land surveying projects across varying project types and geographic areas throughout Montana
- Oversee field operations, coordinate survey crews, and ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and review survey documents, boundary determinations, and technical reports for accuracy and completeness
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior surveyors and survey technicians
- Conduct site visits and fieldwork to gather and verify survey data
- Maintain professional licensure and stay current with surveying practices and Montana regulations
- Collaborate with clients, design professionals, and stakeholders to deliver quality results on schedule
What We're Looking For
- Current Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Montana or ability to obtain reciprocal licensure
- Proven experience leading land surveying projects and managing survey teams
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, boundary determination, and professional surveying standards
- Proficiency with surveying software, GPS technology, and positioning systems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project management abilities
- Comfort working in both field and office environments
- Commitment to safety, accuracy, and professional ethics
