Sr. Advocacy Advisor

About the Role

The American Heart Association is seeking an experienced advocate to drive strategic policy initiatives, build coalitions, and advance cardiovascular health at the state and local levels. You'll translate complex health data into compelling advocacy campaigns, engage stakeholders, and influence decision-makers to prioritize heart disease and stroke prevention.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute advocacy campaigns aligned with organizational priorities and public health evidence
• Monitor legislative activity and regulatory developments affecting cardiovascular health policy
• Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, community leaders, healthcare providers, and nonprofit partners
• Conduct policy research and analysis to inform strategy and messaging
• Prepare briefings, testimony, and advocacy materials for internal and external audiences
• Coordinate with regional and national teams to amplify impact
• Track outcomes and report on campaign effectiveness

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of advocacy, public policy, or related experience in healthcare or nonprofit sectors
• Demonstrated success developing policy campaigns and influencing legislative outcomes
• Deep understanding of cardiovascular disease, public health, or related fields
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and project management abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience)
• Based in or willing to work from Saint Andrews, Charleston County
