Join RTX as a Senior System Safety Engineer with Security Clearance in Tucson, Arizona. This is a full-time, onsite position at our Hermans Road facility, where you'll lead critical safety engineering work on mission-essential defense systems.
About the Role
As a Senior System Safety Engineer at RTX, you'll design, evaluate, and validate safety-critical systems that demand the highest levels of reliability and regulatory compliance. You'll work on sensitive government programs that require an active security clearance and contribute to solutions that protect national interests.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive system safety analysis and assessments for complex defense and aerospace systems
- Develop safety requirements, standards, and procedures aligned with federal regulations and industry best practices
- Perform hazard analysis, risk assessment, and failure mode evaluation on safety-critical designs
- Integrate safety considerations into system architecture and development from concept through certification
- Review technical documentation, test data, and certification materials for regulatory compliance
- Support design reviews, safety audits, and agency submissions for government programs
- Lead and mentor junior engineers on system safety methodologies and processes
What We're Looking For
- Current or ability to obtain U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required
- Professional background in system safety engineering, aerospace systems, or defense contractors
- Strong understanding of system safety processes, hazard analysis, and risk management
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to defense and aerospace industries
- Demonstrated expertise in safety-critical system design and validation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to work onsite at our Tucson, Arizona location
