School Security Officer – Law Enforcement

Greenwich Country Day School, an independent co-educational day school in Greenwich, Fairfield County, is seeking a dedicated School Security Officer - Law Enforcement to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a critical leadership role protecting our 1,400+ students and 350+ faculty and staff across our two campuses.

About the Role

As our School Security Officer with law enforcement background, you will serve as the primary security professional responsible for maintaining a safe learning environment across Greenwich Country Day School's two locations. Working closely with school administration, faculty, and local law enforcement partners, you'll develop and implement comprehensive security protocols that protect our community while maintaining an open, welcoming campus atmosphere.

What You'll Do

• Monitor campus security systems and conduct regular building and grounds patrols across both the Old Church Road campus (grades N-8) and Stanwich Road campus (grades 9-12)
• Manage access control procedures, visitor verification, and emergency check-in protocols
• Respond to security incidents, medical emergencies, and behavioral situations with appropriate intervention and documentation
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and first aid personnel during critical incidents
• Lead and participate in emergency response drills, threat assessments, and security training exercises
• Investigate incidents involving students, staff, or campus property
• Maintain detailed security logs, incident reports, and recommendations for safety improvements
• Build positive relationships with students and staff to foster a secure, supportive school culture

What We're Looking For

• Current or recent law enforcement experience, or equivalent security background in an institutional setting
• Valid law enforcement certification or security credentials
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills with the ability to work effectively with young people
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures, threat assessment, and school safety best practices
• Reliability, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality
• Physical ability to conduct regular patrols and respond to emergencies
