Electrical Engineering Design Specialist 5

CDM Smith is hiring an Electrical Engineering Design Specialist 5 for our Archer, Laramie County location. This is a full-time, senior-level electrical design role where you'll lead technical projects, mentor engineering professionals, and make a meaningful impact on infrastructure and engineering solutions that serve communities across the region.

About the Role

As an Electrical Engineering Design Specialist 5, you'll hold a leadership position in electrical design. You'll direct the planning and development of electrical systems for complex projects, oversee design quality and compliance, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the technical direction of your work. What You'll Do

• Lead electrical system design and technical development for assigned infrastructure and engineering projects
• Prepare detailed design documentation, calculations, specifications, and construction drawings
• Mentor and supervise junior electrical engineers and design staff on best practices and methodologies
• Coordinate electrical design efforts with architects, civil engineers, and other disciplines
• Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Review designs for quality, constructability, cost-effectiveness, and feasibility
• Contribute to proposal development and technical solutions for new clients and opportunities
• Support team development and advance technical excellence in electrical design

What We're Looking For

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering, or eligibility to obtain one in Wyoming
• 8+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering design and project delivery
• Demonstrated expertise designing electrical systems for infrastructure, power systems, utilities, or related sectors
• Advanced proficiency with electrical design software, analysis tools, and CAD platforms
• Proven track record leading and developing engineering teams and junior staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and team interaction
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and regulatory compliance
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines
