University of Hawaii is seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Information and Computer Science to teach part-time at Leeward Community College in Pearl City, Honolulu, for the upcoming Fall 2026, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 terms. This is a temporary, non-tenure-track teaching position designed to strengthen our computer science program and support student success in Hawaii's higher education system.
About the Role
As a part-time Lecturer, you'll deliver engaging instruction in Information and Computer Science courses, developing students' technical competencies and problem-solving abilities. This position offers the flexibility and academic freedom to impact learners at a community college level, where teaching excellence directly shapes student pathways into technology careers and further study.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and practical demonstrations in Information and Computer Science disciplines
- Create course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with program learning outcomes
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support learning and skill development
- Maintain student records and submit grades according to university policies
- Hold office hours and mentor students working through challenging technical concepts
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and program quality improvement
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development as required
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (master's degree preferred)
- Demonstrated professional expertise in Information and Computer Science
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse learners
- Prior experience teaching at the college level or equivalent instructional background
- Familiarity with current technologies and trends in computer science education
- Commitment to student success and institutional mission
