Sofar Ocean is recruiting a Senior Visual Communications Designer for its San Francisco headquarters. This full-time position invites you to take ownership of the organization's visual identity and brand communications across all channels, from internal presentations to customer-facing materials, establishing design systems that work cohesively in print, digital, web, and motion media.
About the Role
As a Senior Visual Communications Designer, you will define and maintain the visual language that shapes how Sofar Ocean communicates with internal and external audiences. You'll create comprehensive brand systems, design standards, and visual guidelines that ensure consistency and clarity across diverse communication formats and channels.
What You'll Do
- Lead visual design strategy and execution for corporate communications, including presentations, reports, and internal materials
- Direct the design of external campaigns and branded digital content that represents the organization's identity
- Develop comprehensive brand guidelines and design systems applicable across print, digital, web, and video formats
- Translate complex organizational concepts and messaging into clear, visually compelling communications
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, and product teams to ensure design alignment with organizational strategy
- Maintain and evolve the visual design approach based on industry developments and organizational needs
What We're Looking For
- Advanced mastery of professional design tools and software platforms
- Substantial experience developing brand identity systems and design guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to design effectively for multiple mediums: print, digital, web, and motion
- Deep understanding of design principles including typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy
- Track record of managing design projects and presenting design strategy to stakeholders
- Portfolio demonstrating range, craft, and strategic thinking across various design applications
- Strong collaborative and independent problem-solving abilities
