About the Role

As an Environmental Protection Specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency, you will serve as a trusted compliance steward, monitoring environmental requirements, resolving identified gaps, and coordinating the funding that keeps remediation efforts on track. This is a full-time position based in Pierre, Hughes County, with telework eligibility available.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and track environmental compliance results drawn from both internal DLA reviews and audits conducted by service components.
• Build corrective action plans whenever compliance shortfalls surface, ensuring issues are addressed thoroughly and on schedule.
• Author and refine standard operating procedures that support consistent environmental practices across the organization.
• Coordinate and develop contracts tied to environmental remediation and compliance work.
• Use the DLA Enterprise Business System (EBS) to create Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs) that fund environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of environmental compliance frameworks, audits, and corrective action processes.
• Experience drafting standard operating procedures and supporting contract development.
• Familiarity with enterprise business or procurement systems such as the DLA EBS and the MIPR funding process is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to track, document, and report on compliance status accurately.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for coordinating across internal teams and service components.
