About the Role

As a Cook at Northwell Health, you will play a hands-on part in daily food service operations, preparing a wide range of dishes while upholding strict food safety and sanitation standards. Working closely with the Chef, you'll contribute to a clean, efficient kitchen that delivers consistent, well-prepared meals across each service.

Key Responsibilities

• Pull ingredients from refrigerators and freezers in the correct quantities for each scheduled meal service.
• Prepare soups, sauces, meats, fish, vegetables, salads, and convenience items to order.
• Cook and assemble menu items in line with established standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
• Keep work areas, equipment, and storage spaces clean and compliant with sanitation requirements.
• Support the Chef with prep, production, and other kitchen duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Practical cooking experience and familiarity with standard kitchen techniques and equipment.
• Working knowledge of food safety, handling, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and prepare items accurately and efficiently.
• Reliable team player able to keep pace in a busy, high-volume kitchen.
• Comfortable working full-time on-site in Port Jefferson, Suffolk County.
