Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates (CNSA) is seeking a full-time Financial Advocacy and Support Services Coordinator to join its patient-centered team in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC.
About the Role
As a Financial Advocacy and Support Services Coordinator at CNSA, you will serve as a critical resource for patients navigating the financial aspects of neurosurgical and spine care. Working across a high-volume, multi-site private practice, you will connect patients with the financial tools and programs they need to access treatment without undue hardship — bridging clinical care with compassionate financial guidance.
What You'll Do
- Counsel patients and families on their financial responsibilities, insurance benefits, and available assistance options before and after care
- Screen patients for eligibility in charity care, payment plan, and third-party financial assistance programs
- Coordinate with insurance teams to clarify coverage, resolve authorization gaps, and facilitate prior authorizations when needed
- Assist uninsured and underinsured patients with Medicaid, Medicare, and marketplace enrollment processes
- Collaborate with billing, revenue cycle, and social work staff to develop individualized financial care plans
- Maintain accurate documentation of all financial counseling encounters and program applications
- Serve as a liaison between patients and payers to resolve coverage disputes and balance questions
- Educate clinical and administrative staff on available patient financial resources
What We're Looking For
- Experience in medical financial counseling, patient advocacy, revenue cycle, or a closely related healthcare administrative role
- Solid working knowledge of health insurance, including commercial plans, Medicaid, and Medicare
- Familiarity with charity care programs, hospital financial assistance policies, and pharmaceutical patient assistance programs
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to discuss sensitive financial matters with empathy and clarity
- Detail-oriented approach to documentation and case management
- Proficiency with healthcare information and billing systems
