Inventory Accountant

Hydra-Flex, Inc. is hiring a full-time Inventory Accountant to join its finance team at its facility in Savage, Scott County, Minnesota — a hands-on accounting role with broad impact across cost management, product pricing, and profitability reporting.

About the Role

As an Inventory Accountant at Hydra-Flex, Inc., you'll take ownership of the company's cost accounting function from the ground up — building processes, maintaining cost data accuracy, and delivering the financial visibility leadership needs to make smart operational decisions. This position goes well beyond routine bookkeeping; you'll work across departments and touch nearly every dimension of product costing and inventory valuation.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain the company's cost accounting systems and daily operational workflows
• Generate accurate, timely cost reports that support management decision-making
• Establish and update standard costs for new and existing products as they are introduced or revised
• Produce gross profit reports and analyze margins by product line, customer, or business segment
• Investigate and explain cost variances — material, labor, and overhead — against standard or budgeted rates
• Reconcile inventory accounts and support month-end and year-end close processes
• Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and production teams to ensure cost data reflects real-world activity
• Assist with audits, internal controls, and ad hoc financial analysis as needed

What We're Looking For

• Solid foundation in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing accounting principles
• Proven ability to build or improve cost systems rather than just maintain existing ones
• Strong analytical skills with a sharp eye for data anomalies and variance drivers
• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools (advanced Excel a plus)
• Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or product-based environment preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
• CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required
• Clear communicator who can translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders
