Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Lockheed Martin is hiring a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at its facility in Littleton, Arapahoe County, Colorado — a hands-on industrial operations role supporting the responsible management of wastewater and regulated materials at one of the nation's leading aerospace and defense campuses.

About the Role

This position begins with weekday training before transitioning to a weekend shift on a 9x80 schedule. As a core member of the environmental operations team, you will keep industrial wastewater systems running safely, legally, and efficiently — protecting both the surrounding community and the operational integrity of the Littleton site.

What You'll Do

• Control and monitor equipment used in the collection, storage, treatment, and transport of industrial wastewater and regulated special wastes
• Operate pumps, valves, blowers, chemical feed systems, and other treatment plant infrastructure in accordance with permit conditions and environmental mandates
• Collect and conduct routine testing of wastewater samples to verify effluent quality and regulatory compliance
• Maintain accurate operational logs, records, and reports required under applicable permits
• Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on plant equipment; identify and escalate mechanical issues promptly
• Respond to hazardous material incidents on site, supporting containment, remediation, and clean-up activities in coordination with safety and environmental teams
• Troubleshoot process upsets and system alarms, taking corrective action to restore normal operations
• Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including EPA discharge standards

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior experience operating a wastewater treatment plant or industrial water/wastewater system preferred
• Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements for industrial wastewater discharge
• State wastewater operator certification (or the ability and willingness to obtain certification)
• Working knowledge of treatment processes, mechanical systems, and instrumentation
• Ability to respond to hazmat incidents and work safely in an industrial environment
• Availability to complete weekday training and subsequently work a weekend 9x80 shift schedule
• Strong record-keeping habits and attention to regulatory detail
• Effective communication skills for cross-team coordination with environmental, safety, and facilities personnel
