About the Role
As a full-time Summer Camp Specialist, you will be a frontline leader within our seasonal day camp, combining direct supervision of campers with the creative design and delivery of activities in your designated specialty area. This on-site position in Hamburg, Sussex County, sits at the heart of our mission to advance youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility across the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, direct supervision of children throughout the day camp, keeping safety and well-being the top priority.
- Plan, build, and run engaging programming within your assigned specialty area, tailored to campers' ages, skills, and interests.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where every camper feels supported and encouraged to grow.
- Model and reinforce the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Collaborate with fellow camp staff to deliver a cohesive, high-quality seasonal experience.
Qualifications
- Genuine enthusiasm for working with children in a structured day camp setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge or skill in a specialty area that can be shaped into engaging camp programming.
- Strong communication, organization, and group-management abilities.
- A commitment to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive space for young people.
- Availability to work full-time, on-site in Hamburg, Sussex County, for the summer camp season.
