Assistant Coach, Golf Men’s and Women’s

Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas is hiring a full-time Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Golf to join its intercollegiate athletics staff and help develop competitive, student-centered golf programs.

About the Role

This is a full-time assistant coaching position supporting both the men's and women's golf programs at Washburn University. The assistant coach works alongside the head coach to build a culture of excellence on and off the course, with responsibility spanning player development, recruiting, and day-to-day program operations. The advertised salary for this position is $20,000 per year. This role is based on campus in Topeka and is not a remote position.

What You'll Do

• Assist the head coach in planning and leading individual and team practice sessions focused on skill development and competitive readiness
• Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who are strong fits academically and athletically for Washburn University
• Support student-athletes in their academic progress, ensuring eligibility and promoting graduation
• Coordinate logistics for team travel, tournament entry, and competition schedules
• Monitor equipment, maintain inventory, and assist with the upkeep of practice and competition facilities
• Contribute to film review, course management instruction, and match preparation
• Uphold all NCAA and conference rules and regulations in every aspect of program activity
• Represent Washburn University with professionalism at competitions, recruiting events, and community engagements

What We're Looking For

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Demonstrated playing ability in golf at the collegiate or competitive amateur level
• Working knowledge of NCAA compliance regulations
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaching staff, and university administrators
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a dual-program structure
• Prior collegiate coaching or high-level playing experience preferred
• A valid driver's license and ability to travel with the team
