Director of School Operations

Innovation Charter High School is hiring a full-time Director of School Operations to lead the operational engine of our East Harlem, Manhattan campus — keeping every system running so teachers can teach and students can thrive.

About the Role

As Director of School Operations at Innovation Charter High School, you will own the non-instructional infrastructure of the school: from facilities and compliance to enrollment, technology, and vendor relationships. You'll partner closely with school leadership to build an environment where students can grow academically, develop emotional maturity, and become self-directed leaders — all values central to Innovation's mission.

What You'll Do

• Oversee day-to-day school operations including facilities management, scheduling logistics, and health and safety protocols
• Manage and develop the operations team, setting clear goals and holding staff accountable to high performance standards
• Lead student enrollment, registration, and records management in compliance with New York State and New York City charter regulations
• Oversee the school's operational budget, track expenditures, and coordinate with finance staff to ensure fiscal responsibility
• Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers; negotiate contracts and monitor service delivery
• Maintain school technology systems, devices, and infrastructure to support instruction and administration
• Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable city, state, and charter authorizer requirements
• Coordinate school events, family communications logistics, and operational aspects of the student experience
• Serve as a key member of the school leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and a positive school culture grounded in collaboration, respect, and innovation

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in school, nonprofit, or organizational operations management
• Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing staff
• Excellent organizational ability and comfort managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced school environment
• Familiarity with NYC Department of Education systems, charter school compliance, or urban public school contexts preferred
• Proficiency with data management systems and standard productivity tools
• Clear, direct communicator who builds trust across faculty, staff, students, and families
• Deep commitment to educational equity and to serving the East Harlem community
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education administration, business, or a related field preferred
