Shop Mechanic

About the Role

As a Shop Mechanic at PAR Electrical Contractors, you will keep the company's fleet of heavy construction vehicles and equipment operating safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on, full-time position based out of the Ferrelview facility, supporting crews that build and maintain critical electrical infrastructure across the region.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered fleet vehicles, aerial equipment, and heavy construction machinery
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime on job-critical equipment
• Inspect hydraulic systems, brakes, electrical systems, and drivetrain components and make necessary repairs
• Conduct DOT-compliant vehicle inspections and ensure equipment meets all applicable safety standards
• Accurately document all maintenance activity, parts usage, and repair history in service records
• Source, order, and manage parts and shop inventory to support efficient repair turnaround
• Coordinate with field supervisors to prioritize repairs and return equipment to service quickly

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic, ideally in construction or utility environments
• Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical vehicle systems, and powertrain components
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company and regulatory standards
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
