Building Electrical Engineer

Jobot is seeking a full-time Building Electrical Engineer to join its Arbutus, Baltimore County office — a key hub within a nationally recognized, multi-discipline architecture and engineering firm operating 25 offices and more than 500 professionals across the country.

About the Role

This position is an on-site opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who thrives in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment. You will contribute to complex building projects — including work that may involve federal and military facilities — from concept through construction documents and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Design and engineer electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and government building projects, including power distribution, lighting, and emergency systems
• Develop complete construction documents — plans, specifications, and calculations — in compliance with NEC, IBC, and applicable local codes
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines throughout all project phases
• Conduct site visits, field verifications, and construction administration support as required
• Apply BIM/Revit and CAD tools to produce accurate, coordinated engineering deliverables
• Support project leads in managing scope, schedule, and quality on multiple concurrent assignments

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT candidates actively pursuing licensure will be considered
• Demonstrated experience designing electrical systems for buildings — commercial, institutional, healthcare, or government sectors
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and relevant construction standards
• Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and electrical engineering analysis software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface directly with clients and multidiscipline project teams
• Ability to obtain required federal facility access clearances if the role involves DoD or military projects

Compensation

This Building Electrical Engineer role offers a salary range of $90,000 – $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
