MercyFirst is hiring a full-time Crisis Intervention Specialist to join its Long Island Residential Campus Support Team in Bay Shore and Brentwood, NY, supporting children and families during their most vulnerable moments.
About the Role
As a Crisis Intervention Specialist with MercyFirst, you will work onsite as part of the LI Residential Campus Support Team (CST), reporting directly to the Campus Support Team Supervisor. This is a hands-on, full-time position centered on de-escalating crises, maintaining a safe environment, and helping young people in residential care stabilize and thrive. A $1,000 hiring incentive is offered for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to behavioral and emotional crises across the Bay Shore and Brentwood campuses.
- Apply approved de-escalation and intervention techniques to keep youth and staff safe.
- Provide supportive, trauma-informed engagement to children and adolescents in residential care.
- Collaborate with the Campus Support Team and report to the Campus Support Team Supervisor.
- Document incidents accurately and follow agency safety protocols and procedures.
- Reinforce a structured, nurturing daily environment alongside residential program staff.
Qualifications
- Genuine commitment to serving children and families in need.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to work onsite full-time at the Bay Shore and Brentwood, NY locations.
- Comfort working as part of a collaborative, team-based support structure.
