About the Role
As a Horticulturist with Battery Park Authority, you will lead the day-to-day care, cleanliness, and overall health of the gardens, lawns, and trees that fall within the jurisdiction of the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA). Based on Church Street in Manhattan, this position places you at the heart of a living, evolving green space enjoyed by residents, employees, and visitors alike. You will champion environmentally responsible methods and help position BPCA as a leading example of sustainable land management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the health, maintenance, and upkeep of gardens, landscaped areas, and trees across BPCA-managed grounds.
- Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the landscape.
- Apply sustainable and forward-thinking horticultural practices that protect the local environment.
- Take a proactive role in establishing BPCA as a model for eco-conscious stewardship.
- Ensure the grounds remain welcoming and well-tended for everyone who lives, works in, or visits Battery Park.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated background in horticulture, landscape care, or garden and tree maintenance.
- Working knowledge of sustainable and environmentally sound growing practices.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and quality.
- Ability to work proactively and independently while supporting broader organizational goals.
- Availability for a full-time, on-site position in Manhattan.
