About the Role

As a part-time ESL Instructor, you will join an applicant pool used to fill teaching assignments as they become available at Madera Community College. In this position, you will guide adult learners from diverse linguistic backgrounds through reading, writing, speaking, and listening instruction designed to support their academic, career, and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging ESL coursework across a range of proficiency levels.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom where multilingual students can thrive.
• Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Embed principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into curriculum and instruction.
• Maintain accurate records and follow district academic policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Meet the minimum qualifications to teach ESL at the California community college level.
• Demonstrated skill in integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion across all areas of teaching responsibility.
• Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom.
• An understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion have shaped the experiences of these groups within higher education.
• Strong communication, cultural awareness, and a genuine commitment to student success.
