About the Role

As a Chemist – New College Graduate at Applied Materials, you will help pioneer the next generation of thin-film chemistry. Working hands-on with advanced test equipment, you will explore novel chemical approaches that enable Applied Materials to push the boundaries of deposition, removal, and cleaning processes used in modern device manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop original precursor formulations and deposition approaches, along with the intellectual property that supports them.
• Engineer chemical processes that introduce inventive methods for forming, removing, or cleaning thin films.
• Generate intellectual property and carry out feasibility evaluations of new chemical processes using test-vehicle equipment.
• Perform synthesis and characterization activities with rigor and professional discipline throughout each process.

Qualifications

• A recent college graduate with a degree in chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
• Solid functional knowledge of chemical synthesis, characterization techniques, and thin-film concepts.
• A creative, analytical mindset suited to inventing and testing new chemical solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe, professional laboratory execution.
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in Santa Clara, Santa Clara County.
