About the Role
As a Safety Specialist II with Golden Valley Electric Association, you will be a key partner in strengthening the organization's safety culture across its Healy generation facilities. Working alongside employees, contractors, and leadership, you will champion proactive safety practices that keep day-to-day power generation and wind energy operations both reliable and incident-free.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate safety training that equips employees and contractors to work safely on site.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards and recommend practical corrective measures.
- Lead and document incident investigations, helping uncover root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Support compliance with applicable safety regulations and internal standards.
- Advise leadership and field teams to reinforce a shared, accountable culture of workplace safety.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in occupational safety, ideally within power generation, utilities, or a comparable industrial setting.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations, inspection processes, and incident investigation methods.
- Strong communication skills to train, coach, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Willingness to work on site in Healy, Denali County, Alaska, in a full-time capacity.
