About the Role
As an Environmental Protection Specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency in Brookings, Brookings County, you will play a central part in keeping agency programs aligned with environmental standards. This telework-eligible, full-time position blends hands-on compliance oversight with program coordination, giving you the chance to translate audit findings into practical, lasting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and document environmental compliance using results from both internal DLA reviews and service-component audits.
- Build corrective action plans whenever compliance gaps surface, and see them through to resolution.
- Author standard operating procedures that strengthen consistency and accountability across environmental programs.
- Support contract development tied to environmental compliance requirements.
- Work within the DLA Enterprise Business System (EBS) to create Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs) that fund environmental initiatives.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of environmental compliance frameworks and audit processes.
- Ability to analyze audit results, identify root causes, and design effective corrective measures.
- Experience drafting standard operating procedures and supporting documentation.
- Familiarity with enterprise business or procurement systems such as DLA EBS, including MIPR processing, is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and the attention to detail needed for accurate compliance tracking and reporting.
