About the Role
As the Social Media Producer at WHDH-TV, you'll own the day-to-day voice of the station across its social media accounts. Based on-site in Boston, you'll collaborate with every corner of the newsroom to surface timely stories, amplify reporting, and keep audiences engaged in real time. This is a hands-on, full-time position ideal for a digitally native storyteller who thrives in a fast-moving news environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and actively monitor WHDH-TV's social media channels throughout the news day.
- Partner closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom teams to identify and develop stories worth sharing.
- Discover emerging news and source, vet, and curate user-generated content.
- Produce, write, and edit original posts, video clips, and graphics tailored to each platform.
- Track engagement and respond to audience activity to expand the station's digital reach.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing social media accounts, ideally within news, media, or broadcast.
- Strong news judgment and the ability to react quickly to developing events.
- Skilled in creating and editing engaging written, photo, and video content.
- A collaborative mindset and comfort working alongside a busy newsroom team.
- Familiarity with current social platforms, trends, and best practices.
