Wilson Elser is hiring a full-time General Liability Associate Attorney in Columbia, Richland County, to join a nationally recognized litigation team and help shape the future of legal practice at a leading firm.
About the Role
As a General Liability Associate Attorney based in Columbia, you will handle a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution. This in-office position offers the chance to grow alongside experienced trial lawyers while delivering responsive, high-caliber service to clients across South Carolina and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general liability defense files at every stage of the litigation lifecycle.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other substantive legal documents.
- Conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial-related proceedings.
- Research applicable law and develop sound, practical case strategies.
- Communicate clearly with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
- Collaborate with partners and colleagues to achieve favorable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in South Carolina, or eligibility for admission.
- Experience in general liability, civil litigation, or insurance defense is valued.
- Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional client service.
